NDIS Support to Be More Independent Out of Home
Episode 1460, Oct 27, 2021, 12:54 AM
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a type of support service available as part of the NDIS for people with disability who want to move out of home and be supported to live as independently as possible.
This can involve helping them with personal care like showering and getting dressed, going shopping and preparing food, budgeting and paying bills, house maintenance and cleaning and to develop their skills so that they can do more and more of this independently over time.
It can take a very long time to apply and be approved for SIL funding, so Chief Executive at Community Living Australia, Mark Kulinski, joins Jennie Lenman to discuss.
