Daily Dose @ 5: Malaysia logs 4,743 COVID-19 cases, Sudan’s PM, officials detained, internet down in apparent coup

AMONG the headlines for Monday, October 25, 2021, Malaysia registers 4,782 new Covid-19 cases within the last 24 hours.
It is the lowest since June 22, when 4,743 cases were reported.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of infections to 2,436,498 since the pandemic hit the country.
Also, Sudan's information ministry said today, the country's interim Prime Minister, Abdulla Hamdok, is placed under house arrest as a military coup unfolded in the northeast African nation.
Earlier, the ministry said military forces had detained a number of senior Sudanese government figures as the country's main pro-democracy group called on people to take to the streets to counter the apparent coup.
