Episode 1728, Sep 14, 2021, 09:46 AM
Since 2014, South Sudan has had one of the highest suicide rates in the world, according to a WHO report released in 2019.
In 2014 the report ranked South Sudan number 13 among 172 countries with high suicide rates in the world.
The coming of Coronavirus might have exacerbated the risks as the country already had pre-existing psychosocial difficulties.
This morning, Miraya breakfast discussed the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in South Sudan. Listen to the full discussion featuring Patrick Irama, a Psychiatric Nurse & Public Health Officer currently working as a roving Senior Mental Health Program Officer for International Medical Corps.
Also on the program was Margret Lindrio James, a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Officer based in Juba at Humanity & Inclusion.
