Daily Dose @ 5: Agong consents to forgo vote of confidence for PM Ismail Sabri, India braces for potential third COVID-19 wave

AMONG the headlines for Tuesday, September 7, 2021, De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said today, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong gave his consent for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to forego a confidence vote in Parliament, when the Dewan Rakyat convenes this month.
Wan Junaidi since His Majesty saw no necessity to proceed for a vote of confidence, considering he had just appointed the new PM.
He said the Agong was confident that Ismail Sabri has received the majority support of the Dewan Rakyat.
Also, India reports 31,222 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 33.1 million. The country has so far lost 441,042 lives to coronavirus, including another 290 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
The country is bracing ahead for a possible third COVID-19 wave, preparing special pediatric wards as some experts warn unvaccinated children could be vulnerable to any new virus mutations.
