Beware the Greenville Clipboard Warriors

Episode 79,   Sep 01, 2021, 09:30 AM

Greenville - both the County and the City - have "clipboard warriors" going around and looking for people who are doing work on homes without getting the work permitted. This might seem like a good thing, but oftentimes it does more harm than good. One person recently revealed that he was fined $25,000 and made to write letters to people he had sold homes to in order to let them know he hadn't permitted the work done on their homes! Permitting doesn't cost that much money - it's just an annoyance (it forces you to use a licensed contractor, among other things), and it's just another way the local government can snoop on what we're doing. But it's one of those things we have to live with in the real estate world, so it's best we learn a little about it. And that's what this episode of Selling Greenville is about!
