NYC Chinatown wander

Chinatown, New York City reimagined by Kathleen Judge.

"Having lived in New York City’s Chinatown many years ago, listening to the original field recording brought many memories to mind. Visions and sounds full of static—distorted by time. Moments of clarity, a solid memory surfaces— and then vanishes.

"I approached this piece as if I were tuning into a memory of a place, like turning a dial to tune into a radio station. Things clarify and then disintegrate. The repetitive childlike pattern and the high random chimes/bells are to evoke a feeling of reflection and looking for something thats gone. The distorted frequencies dishevel the recording, to make the listening feel unsteady, as tho the threads of sound will unravel soon."
