Daily Dose @ 5: Malaysia hits another 16,840 new COVID-19 cases, Washington reinstates indoor mask mandate

AMONG the headlines for Friday, July 30, 2021, Malaysia reported a total of 16,840 new COVID-19 cases, as Selangor leads the list with a whopping 6,092 infections.
This brings the overall total to 1,095,486 since the pandemic hit the country.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur records 2,114 cases, followed by Kedah (1,281), Johor (1,104), Negri Sembilan (1,079), Sabah (1,066), Perak (810), Penang (689), Kelantan (656), Melaka (581), Pahang (540) and Sarawak (450).
There were 258 infections logged in Terengganu, followed by Putrajaya (100), Perlis (13) and Labuan (7).
Also, Washington, D.C., mayor Muriel Bowser reinstated an indoor mask mandate for all city residents, including those who are vaccinated.
The announcement comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that all Americans, including those vaccinated against coronavirus, wear masks indoors in areas with high coronavirus transmission. Those areas include localities with over 50 new cases per week per 100,000 residents.
