As South Sudan makes progress towards the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, the legislative arm of government has seen women take up strategic positions following a recent announcement by president Salva Kiir. Last Friday, Jema Nunu Kumba was announced as the new speaker of the revitalized transitional national legislative assembly, while Mary Ayen Majok takes up the position of deputy speaker of the council of States.
