Local agricultural seed companies urged to enhance seed production

The Seed Traders Association of South Sudan has called on local seed companies to step up their efforts and locally produce agricultural seeds to assure food security for the country. Association secretary Isaac Woja says most seeds that South Sudan farmers are currently using are sourced from outside the country whose climatic conditions may not be suitable for South Sudan. Meanwhile Food and Agriculture Organization seed specialist Joseph Okidi says there is need to regulation the seed value chain to ensure quality seed delivery to the farmers. The two were speaking on Miraya breakfast show this morning.
