Beneath the cliffs at Malham Cove

Malham Cove is a huge curving amphitheatre-shaped cliff formation of limestone rock about 260 feet high, and is one of the major tourist destinations and beauty spots in the Yorkshire Dales national park in England. At the bottom of the cliffs, the soundscape is calm and the air empty, carrying any sound large distances, and a small trickling stream is the main sonic feature on this quiet day, with pockets of birdsong and the odd passing rambler.
