The Central Equatoria state government is carrying out an anti-rabies vaccination exercise for dogs.

Vaccines are being administered free of charge at five centers in Juba town.

The director general of the state ministry of animal resources, George Kamala Lado says the vaccines were provided by a German non-profit organization, is encouraging dog-owners to take their animals for vaccination to prevent the spread of rabies from dogs to humans.

The director general says stray dogs should be eliminated professionally by state authorities in the interest of public safety.
