Sight Loss Cross-Sector Campaigning Delivers a More Inclusive Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People

In the next feature of our new series of interviews looking at how the RNIB is working in partnership with sight loss sector partners and other charities to make a more inclusive and accessible society for blind and partially sighted people Connect Radio’s Toby Davey checks in with members of the Strategic Engagement Lead - Third Sector Team here at the RNIB this time to focus on campaigning.

Toby was joined by Andrea Glover, Strategic Engagement Manager and Lindsay Coyle, Local Campaigns Manager here at the RNIB to find out more about campaigning.

Andrea outlined how Campaigning fits within the overall Strategic Engagement Lead - Third Sector Team here at the RNIB and Lindsay explained what the members of the Campaign Team do as well as the type of support they offer to local sight loss societies. Lindsay also highlighted some of the recent ways the team have been working with local societies and some of the outcomes of this work such as working with Accrington and District Blind Society on the roll out of vaccinations and the impact and some of the challenges faced by visually impaired people which was fed back to the Cabinet Office within 48 hours and recent work with Cam Sight on pavement parking and also ways blind and partially sighted people can volunteer and get involved in local campaigns.
