Episode 41, Jun 23, 2021, 10:58 AM
Delta plus variant of COVID, which has been declared as a variant of concern, may trigger a possible third wave, reports suggest. This comes as 40 cases of the variant have been detected in India.
While there is a sudden panic about the Delta plus variant, Maharashtra COVID-19 task force’s member Dr Shashank Joshi suggests that there is no sufficient data available to be alarmed about the variant yet.
Nonetheless, All India Institute of Medical Sciences chief Dr Randeep Guleria reportedly said that the Delta plus variant is extremely transmissible. Even walking next to a Covid-19 patient who is a carrier of this variant without a mask may lead to an infection.
In this episode of COVID Fight podcast, CNBC-TV18’s Kanishka Sarkar talks about the latest on Delta plus variant, the vaccination pace in India and what White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr Anthony Fauci thinks is the "greatest threat" to America's response to the pandemic.
