"Political Party" w/ Adam Smith: Richie Floyd 5-24-21
Season 1, Episode 4596, May 24, 2021, 09:26 PM
Check out the latest episode of Political Party with Adam Smith, where city council candidate Richie Floyd talks about his plans to stand up for workers in St. Petersburg including an ordinance governing how employers handle scheduling.
“Make it so your schedule has to come out a few weeks in advance, rather than the night before. Allow you to take unpaid time off. Let you know when you’re going to be working ahead of time so that way you can schedule your life,” Floyd said of the ordinance he would advocate.
He is running for the District 8 seat to be vacated by Amy Foster, which includes neighborhoods such as Kenwood and Disston Heights. Other candidates who have filed paperwork to run include Jamie Mayo and Dane Kuplicki.
Floyd said he and his campaign supporters have knocked on 7,000 doors so far.
“The number one thing on people’s minds is affordable housing … We hear two things. One is, ‘I can’t pay my rent,’ the other is, ‘I’m so happy that I bought my house 10 years ago and not right now,’ Floyd said. #sdamsmith #stpetecatalyst #tampabay #radio #radiostpete
