Daily Dose @ 5:M'sia soars past 6,000 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, Indonesian arrested for 'blaspheming' against Palestine

AMONG the headlines for Wednesday, 19th May, 2021, Malaysia logs an alarming 6,075 COVID-19 infections over the last 24 hours.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reveals that more than a third of the fresh infections were reported in Selangor with a total of 2,251 cases. 

It is followed by Johor with 699 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 660, Kedah with 445, Kelantan with 441 and Sarawak with 323 cases.

Also, an Indonesian man was arrested for violating a cyber law after he posted a video on social media platform Tiktok allegedly calling for the "slaughter" of Palestinian "pigs".

Hilmiadi is facing a maximum of six years in prison.

According to police, the 23-year-old janitor made slanderous TikTok content against the state of Palestine a majority Muslim people, with inappropriate words.

Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority nation, is a staunch supporter of Palestine and the clip quickly drew the ire of police in West Nusa Tenggara province.
