Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Saturday 23d June edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport.
I realised for the last few days we've talked a lot about Tesla Model 3's, Jaguar I-PACE's and even Porsche buying into the millionaire world of Rimac.
But, on this journey we're all on to electrify, let's not forget the worst polluters on the roads. The dirty diesel trucks delivering freight around our countries and cities.
We know the Tesla Semi is coming in 2020 and some exciting developments from the likes of Workhorse. But what else is there you might be wondering? Well funnily enough I stumbled upon a LinkedIn blog from the Sales and Marketing Director of a UK company David Thackray.
And I'm tempted to call them a UK start-up even though they've been working on this for a few years now, because they're rapidly expanding and just had millions of pounds from investors who see where this is going.
So I've followed up on that Linkedin blog, and I've persuaded David to come on the show for you.
And a few burning questions which came in over the past two days since I tweeted about this. They include:
- why aren't all trucks electric considering the technology exists?
- is this going to be massively expensive?
- aren't the big makers like Tesla, Daimler, Volvo, Mitsubishi doing this already?
- what makes you choose a REX over full BEV?
- how far does the average urban truck need to go, and what about charging?
