EUROPE JULY SALES STATS
- Just a quick look at some of the July numbers coming in. LEVC, the Geely owned company which makes the electric London taxi, is consistently selling, indeed increasing, and their sales. May was 99, June was 108 and July was 115. That a solid start to build on.
- As for the Jaguar I-PACE sales in July, Germany saw 70 delivered to customers, but expect to see those numbers increase from the present handful of deliveries some countries are seeing.
- Plus there's a new historic low for Diesel in France down to 39% share, down from 55.4% in October 2015.
- Germany is down from 51.35 diesel share to 32.3% and the UK from 47.7% in Oct 15 down to 31.9%. According to a tweet by AID Data today. If EV's weren't so supply-constrained that diesel number would be so much lower. If the Model 3 were available in Europe, the next generation of larger battery budget EVs such Nissan, Hyundai and Kia, or the premium SUV's like Mercedes EQC and Audio e-tron Quattro. I imagine many of the Jaguar I-PACE buyers who are now getting their cars might otherwise have bought diesel.

AUDI E-TRON SPOTTED IN COLORADO SPRINGS
- And Talking of the Audi e-tron, Domenick at InsideEV's says: "E-Tron mules have been spotted in Colorado Springs in, naturally, Colorado. Images sent to InsideEVs by Doug B. place the development vehicle near Garden of the Gods, on the outskirts of āOlympic City.ā While that particular rocky outcropping may be interesting to tourist, one of the mountains in the background of the images hold the key to the reason why the mules are in this vicinity. That mountain? Pikes Peak."
- The Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, known internationally as the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, is held biennially in Frankfurt. And it's there we expect to see the Audi e-tron launched. SEPTEMBER 20 ā 27, 2018

TG'S BIG JAGUAR I-PACE TEST PART 5: HOW FAR CAN IT ACTUALLY GO?
- "In the final part of our mega-EV test, we attempt London to Land's End... on one charge" says Paul Horrell for Top Gear: "The WLTP range (Worldwide harmonised Light-vehicle Test Procedure) of the I-Pace is 298 miles. That journey is 291 miles. Learned from Jagās man that the most efficient speed is 45mph. I donate myself some speedo error and settle on 47 max. the I-Paceās spec shows a 90kWh battery, but the car never allows itself all that, for the sake of the cellsā health. So for 291 miles, my average consumption has to be less than that total available 84.7kWh divided by that target distance, equals 0.291kWh per mile or (29.1kWh per 100 miles in trip-computer units). Five hours in a slow-moving greenhouse and the dank scent of failure. We have attained the rated range. But only by crawling along, denied heating, A/C, stereo, HUD, lane-assist, wipers, headlights. Real-driving range is below 200 miles, I reckon. This gap is not the fault of the I-Pace. Itās the fault of a new test that may be more realistic than the old, but still isnāt realistic enough"

IONITY COMES TO FRANCE
- A bit of news from a couple of days ago I keep meaning to bring you about IONITY.
- "IONITY is the joint venture of BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche. We are here to build a network of reliable and powerful charging stations along major routes across Europe. These stations are comfortable to use and they allow fast charging times due to their capacity of up to 350 kW"
- By 2020, they will be operating around 400 fast charging stations in 24 European countries. However there's a bit of work to do, as only 6 stations are operational.
- And their most recent news: "High Power Charging comes to France as IONITY goes live with two new charging stations. The 350 kW charging parks are located at the Aire de Porte dāAngers South and Aire de Tours la Longue Vue on the two major trunk routes through Franceās picturesque Loire Valley. Heralding a new chapter for E-mobility in France, this development is the result of a partnership between Eurogarages, VINCI Autoroutes and IONITY."

NUMBER OF CCS COMBO DC FAST CHARGERS IN EUROPE HITS 5,000
- Meanwhile Mark Kane at InsideEVs has spotted that the number of CCS Combo DC Fast Chargers in Europe has hit 5,000. "The year-over-year growth amounted to some 50-55% (over 1,700 new installations since August 2017), but still most of the CCS chargers are concentrated in just several countries."
Ā
Ā
- "A significant characteristic of CCS Combo locations are that they are also multi-standard chargers, with both CHAdeMO and/or 3-phase AC type 2 along for the ride. Typical power output is between 20 to 50 kW, but there are also 100 kW units, 175 kW or even 350 kW units. Total number of CHAdeMO in Europe exceed 6,250 in June. According to the map, currently around 90% of the CCS chargers (almost 4,500) were confirmed as available 24/7."
NISSAN SELLS ITS BATTERY BUSINESS, 225-MILE LEAF E-PLUS TO GET LG CHEM BATTERIES
- "[Nissan] has sold its electric-car battery subsidiary, Automotive Energy Supply Corporation (AESC) to Envision Group, a Chinese renewable energy company. The two firms announced the deal on Friday." according to Eric C Evarts for Green Car Reports: "The batteries it used in early versions of the Nissan Leaf had durability problems, losing range after as little as a year in some cases. Nissan was also the only major automaker that used air-cooled battery packs. Nissan plans to introduce a new, longer-range Leaf e-Plus for 2019 that will use 60-kwh batteries supplied by LG Chem."
- It's worth pointing out, whilst I don't own a 30kWh LEAF I believe a software patch was issued for the that car which fixed much of the degradation which was being reported.
