• "Antonio Felix da Costa won the Ad Diriyah E-Prix, the opening round of the 2018-19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship and the first race for the new Gen2 car." according to Motorsport.com "Reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne finished second, having led the middle phase of the race before being hit with a drive-through penalty for a technical infringement, with Jerome D’Ambrosio completing the podium for Mahindra Racing."

JAGUAR'S ELECTRIC IPACE ETROPHY SERIES

• "Simon Evans claimed victory in the first ever Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy, prevailing in a race-long three-way fight for the lead to make history." reports Andrew van de Burgh for Autosport media: "With qualifying having been rained off, the starting order was decided by the free practice session that took place on Friday evening and meant that Evans was on pole. To compensate for the loss of track time, three additional sighting laps took place before the cars lined up to take the start."

KONA U.S. PRICES

• Not that demand needs any more stimulus of 64kWh Hyundai KONA but the pricing in the USA is competitive.
• Hyundai today announced the starting price for its long-awaited 2019 Kona Electric convention-breaking electric crossover. The Kona Electric starting price is $36,450, for an effective net price of $28,950 ($29,995 including delivery), with the electric vehicle tax credit of $7,500 factored in. Customers may receive the available federal tax credit of up to $7,500, dependent on individual tax circumstances, yielding a sub-$30,000 net value.
• Pricing for other Kona Electric trims will be announced shortly.
• Kona Electric rides on an all-new CUV platform and is Hyundai’s first compact electric crossover for the U.S. market.
• Kona Electric models will be produced in Ulsan, Korea and will be available in the beginning of 2019, with initial availability in California and subsequently in the ZEV-focused states in the western and northeastern regions of the U.S. market.

 

GM HITS FEDERAL TAX CREDIT PHASE-OUT OF 200,000 EVS SOLD IN U.S.

• "According to [InsideEV] estimates General Motors crossed the mark of 200,000 plug-in electric car sales in the U.S. before the end of November 2018. The 200,000 sales is the magical number, which triggers the phase-out of the federal tax credit of up to $7,500. Even if not all customers applied for the tax credit or if there is some delay between sales and the federal tax credit tally, the 200,000 will be fact in this quarter."

• The means they're releasing their fleet vehicles to bolster their end of year numbers.

 

CHARGEPOINT TO EQUIP DAIMLER RETAILERS IN GERMANY WITH EV CHARGING SOLUTIONS

• ChargePoint has been selected by Daimler to deploy charging solutions for retailers in Germany as the automaker prepares for a significant increase in electrified models in the coming years.
• The deal includes the deployment of AC and fast chargers up to 150 kW at Daimler-owned properties beginning this year and into 2019. The charging solutions will be available for retailers of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Vans and Trucks. Daimler retailers across the country are increasingly investing ahead Daimler’s push into electric vehicles in the coming years.

What are your desired realistic specs for a pure electric vehicle?

 

Where in the world did you last rent a car, was an EV available, what site/service did you use, and would you have liked to rent an EV and paid extra for it?

 

If you could convince the manufacturer to convert any currently made car to electric which would it be?

 

For current EV owners... Now that you have owned an EV and lived with range anxiety - if you could only charge level-2 at home, what do you feel is an acceptable EV range for your type of driving?

 

Should Nissan have presented us, the consumer, with 2 choices straight out the gate at the beginning of 2018 with the current 40 kWh version and even longer range 60 or 64 kWh version at a higher price and allow us to make our own decision?

If you could have a level 3 charger in your home for an affordable price, would you use or need one?

 

What year do you think EVs will be the same or cheaper than an ICE car and why?

Would you prefer free charging that is only open during business hours or pay for use open 24/7 ?

Name a unique bonus feature that a pure EV offers that may be not obvious to most.

 

Of the people in your social circle (especially those who might buy a Car or Scooter/bike) how many of them are aware about EVs ?

 

How do we give the growing population in city’s that live in apartments a charging possibility in the near future. Most don’t have a parking space or garage nearby and reabuilding the city’s take much to long time and investment?

 

As the grid will get busier as more and more EVs come into use would people be willing to have  storage batteries installed into their houses / garages by their electricity supplier?

 

When making a long drive by car, what typical duration do you feel comfortable to drive before taking a quick break? Is it 2 hours, 2.5 hours, 3 hours (or more?). Is it a different duration when you are by yourself vs. having family on board? If you prefer to answer in distance, that's fine too.

 

What's an acceptable break duration to re-load a further driving stage? Given that even in a gas car, a break is realistically going to be at least 10 minutes of pump, bathroom and cashier time, extra for a snack & coffee break, what's a realistic acceptable DC recharge time for an affordable EV to persuade those on the fence? Is it 10, 15, 20 minutes or longer? Note: it's not what's ideal with cost-no-object ("3 minutes please!"), it's what's a sensible (currently affordable) compromise to avoid being a turn-off.
