MOVE OVER MARIO KART: TESLA MODEL 3 HAS BEACH BUGGY RACING 2
"Believe it or not, Tesla has been in the center "console" business for nearly a year now. First announced last summer, the automaker has since installed a handful of Atari games in a feature dubbed Teslatari. Among these included classics such as Asteroids, Lunar Lander, and Tempest." says Wade Malone for InsideEVs.com: "Beach Buggy Racing 2, a mobile game with several tracks that bear a striking resemblance to the Mario Kart games of yore. Of course, that's the entire point. Beach Buggy Racing 2 seems to do a great job scratching the Mario Kart itch on systems that Nintendo does not support. Beach Buggy Racing 2 has been fairly well reviewed since its initial launch on Android and iOS. The game has enough to differentiate itself from the classic Nintendo franchise. Plus, this exclusive version lets you pilot a Tesla, making it instantly better than Mario Kart. Mario and pals are still driving "gas guzzling" go karts."

JLR REVEALS DETAILS OF FUTURE MLA ARCHITECTURE
"Jaguar Land Rover has revealed details on electric models to follow the Jaguar I-Pace to investors. New cars will share a new platform called Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) that accommodates all-electric drives, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids." reports the industry source Electrive.com: "JLR is hoping the MLA architecture will drive the company’s margin through cost reduction and new models, expects Nick Rogers, Head of Product Development. In future, JLR will build the vehicles on MLA basis at the plant in Solihull (England) and is already planning a large premium sedan and a large SUV."

Meanwhile AutoEvolution reports: "Plug-in hybrid MLA models will utilize a 13.1-kWh battery for an electric range of 50 kilometers while mild-hybrid MLA models will integrate a belt-driven starter generator for bursts of electric boost. Electric vehicles such as the XJ, by comparison, will feature 90.2 kWh of capacity and a range of “up to 470 kilometers (292 miles)”

DAIMLER SLUMPS AS DIESEL COSTS WIPE OUT PROFIT GROWTH
"Daimler shares fell as much as 5% on Monday after the German automaker cut its profit forecast for the third time in 12 months, saying it was setting aside hundreds of millions of euros to cover a regulatory crackdown on diesel emissions." according to a Reuters report: "Carmakers have been grappling with a crackdown on diesel emissions since 2015, when German rival Volkswagen admitted to cheating U.S. pollution tests on diesel engines. The pressure has come at a time when the industry is also having to invest heavily in electric and self-driving vehicles, cope with slowing growth in China, weak markets in Europe and a rise in global trade tensions."
VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS IT SECURED BATTERY CELL SUPPLY FOR EV OFFENSIVE
"Volkswagen sends signals that the brand, and broader Volkswagen Group, secured the supply of lithium-ion battery cells for the upcoming first wave of electric cars." reports InsideEVs.com: "Thomas Ulbrich, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Brand responsible for E-Mobility, said: "I can confirm that for the first years of our plan, a sufficient supply of cells has been contractually secured," "adding this was the case until 2023." It's expected that from 2021, production of BEVs in Zwickau, Germany will be around 330,000 per year. The first model will be Volkswagen ID.3, followed by its derivatives."

ABB SHOWCASES FIRST ELECTRIC TRUCK IN SWITZERLAND
"ABB presented the first electric truck in Berne. By the end of 2022, the company plans to convert its fleet to zero-emission vehicles gradually in Switzerland. The current three-axe model was developed together with E-Force One but runs on ABB technology." says electrive "The electric trucks will also charge at ABB Terra 54 fast chargers and provide enough power for a range of up to 300km. A range of up to 500km would be possible with the largest available battery fitted."

TESLA BATTERY PROTECTION SOFTWARE UPDATE REDUCES RANGE
"Recent reports by Tesla owners point to a range drop following one of the automaker's latest software updates. Those impacted are owners of older Model S and Model X vehicles." according to InsideEVs.com: "The software update was initiated by the electric car maker in order to provide additional battery protection to decrease degradation and increase battery lifespan. However, with any software changes, there can be some negatives, despite the overall positive intentions. According to Electrek, the update affects only Model S and X vehicles with 85-kWh battery packs. These cars were manufactured until 2016. The reported range loss is between 12 and 30 total miles."

QUESTION OF THE WEEK
MARK GARNETT
“Bums on seats” is the best, ideally with an EV knowledgeable person (ie many dealers can’t offer this)! A close second is just talking to people, because where ever they are on their EV journey (denyer, sceptic, quizzical, open minded or almost ready), discussing their real or perceived questions helps them move along that road.
My friends and family are fed up with me Turing every conversation to EVs, so apart from sponsoring several podcasts and youtubers, my favourite way of of spreading the word is to be an EV owner at events like “Fully Charged Live” and “Oxford EV show” last weekend. In between the rain showers lots of really untested people asking really relevant questions.
I’d love to insure my car to allow accompanied test drives (of friends and family at least) but all the insurers I've asked so far only point to full car dealer insurance which seems a bit over the top.

... is to silently bypass all those in traffic jams.
To be more serious, yell and shout whenever and wherever possible about them.
To be even more serious is making the big guys talk about the benefits of them. By big guys I mean government, influencers, bloggers, top CEOs, and alike. The more we talk about it, the more there is the possibility that an actual change will happen.
JOSH PRITT
It's a bit like the Matrix. You can't be told what it is, you have to be SHOWN. The biggest thing people need to see is plugging in at home allows them to have a full "tank" every morning instead of going to a gas station once a week. They still think we have to go to charging stations once a week and stand there for a few hours while it charges! So grassroots events like National Drive Electric Week (driveelectricweek.org) and EV Expos and EV Car Shows are the best way to get butts in seats. Space Coast EV Drivers (spacecoastevdrivers.com) club in Melbourne, Florida does a great job with public ride and drive events like this. Joining or starting your own local EV club and doing public events is probably one of the best ways to get the word out about driving electric!

So I think a very good way to spread the word about EV would be by airing it over few radio channels in the country.. here in India people are tuned into the radio while commuting mostly (and they’re on the road an avg 2 hours per day).
DOUG VOWLES
Put Ice-ey bums in warm EV seats. (Get icers to test drive, test drive, test drive.)
DRK
Best way, there is more than one, for spreading the word about Ev's but if I had to pick on... it's getting a ride from a friend with an EV who is living with the car day to day. Getting butts in seats is one of the best and easiest way to sell a Tesla and I think that works for the other brands as well when it's someone you know showing you the features and letting you behind the wheel.

I think the great way to get the word out on electric vehicles would be to put booths at any and all city tastes. Most larger cities in the United States have festivals where you can have local vendors come and you can sample their best dishes. Tens of thousands of people walk by.
Another great way might be to give free Uber rides to people. Allowing them to experience the EV and ask questions to an employee. Youtubers have already started doing this, but on a very small scale.

Martin, i love to talk to people at charging stations. You are the keeper, so people trust your opinion and to be honest. I am getting a lot busier on my charging breaks, no time for a kit cat.
