AUDI E-TRON SALES IN U.S. SLIGHTLY INCREASED IN OCTOBER
The all-electric Audi e-tron noted 462 sales, which is 2.4% of all Audi sales. It's a positive that e-tron sales improved from September, but they didn't increase by much. Hopefully, the e-tron will move up in the following months" according to the InsideEVs Sales Scorecard: "Since April, Audi delivered 4,002 e-tron, which places it close to the top 10 of the most popular plug-in models YTD."

NISSAN LEAF SALES DROP DOWN IN OCTOBER 2019 IN U.S.
" Sales of the Nissan LEAF continue to dwindle in the U.S. and likely will stay that way as the competition continues to heat up." writes Steven Loveday: "In October 2019, Nissan sold only 887 LEAFs in the U.S. That's down from the 1,234 LEAFs sold in October 2018 and marks the first return to sub-1,000 units sold per month since July when just 938 were sold. In terms of 2019 YTD figures, the LEAF now stands at 9,998, which is down from the 11,920 YTD figure at the same point in time in 2018."

NORWAY MARKS 3,742 NEW BEVS SOLD IN OCTOBER
"Exactly 3,742 electric cars were newly registered in Norway in October. The market share of electric cars among car registrations was 35.7 per cent. The most successful model of all drive types was the Audi e-tron quattro." according to electrive: "Compared with September, 2,344 fewer electric cars were put on the road. This is largely attributable to the Tesla Model 3, of which only 121 units were registered in October. In September there were 2,342 new registrations. 72.9 per cent of all newly registered passenger cars in Norway were equipped with an electric or hybrid drive in October." The Tesla Model 3 still remains the country's top-selling car year-to-date
Audi delivered 873 of teh BEV e-tron SUVs in October, still selling well is the Volkswagen Golf in second place at 748 cars.

CATALONIA GOVERNMENT MAKES CHANGES TO THE VEHICLE CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSION TAX
"The Government has introduced modifications to the tax on motor vehicle CO2 emissions. The tax on car, van and motorcycle emissions was approved by Parliament in August 2017 to combat their greenhouse effect on the atmosphere and their impact on global warming." reports gencat.cat: "Cars and vans will be charged from 2020 and motorcycles will be added in 2021. The estimated potential revenue is 150 million euros per year when cars, light commercial vehicles and motorcycles are subject to the charge. The tax will affect 4.1 million vehicles: 3.6 million cars and vans and 500,000 motorcycles."
VOLKSWAGEN STRENGTHENS BRAND PRESENTATION IN CHINA
Volkswagen brand plans to deliver about 300,000 electrified models to customers in 2020 – the figure is to reach a million by 2025.
By 2023, 10 battery electric vehicles based on the modular electric drive toolkit MEB are to be launched on the Chinese market.
An SUV from the ID. family is to be the first MEB model in China – production start in one year
ID.31 to be produced by SAIC VOLKSWAGEN
THE BEAST 2.0 E-BIKE IS THE MONSTER TRUCK OF ELECTRIC BICYCLES
"Those pedals, which some like to call vestigial pedals, are fully functional yet aren’t likely to get a lot of use. They’re mounted way far back and have the tiniest of crank arms. But they work, and that classifies it as an electric bicycle for all legal intents and purposes." says Micah at electrek: "The Beast 2.0 actually comes with three different battery options: a 1.8 kWh SLA battery, 2.4 kWh Li-ion battery, or a cutting-edge 1.5 kWh Lithium-titanate (LTO) battery. The last one is a high-tech (and high-price) battery that is capable of lasting up to 20,000 charge cycles." 25mph top speed.

TESLA MODEL S BECOMES FORMER TOP GEAR HOST JAMES MAY’S NEWEST CAR
"Unlike Jeremy Clarkson, James May has a fondness for electric cars and one of his previous everyday cars was a BMW i3, which replaced his aging Fiat Panda. It’s time for May to upgrade and a purely electric car is the choice this time, but, as you can see from the video, the i3 is still in his garage" says Motor1.com.
The video description: "The time has come for James May to add a car to the garage, and this one is going to be a big move into the future for him. He has been keeping it secret for a while but today is the day that the covers are off and you guys get to see what James has opted for. We hope you like it!"
Model S Long Range (it looks like the badge on his boot says 100D), Deep Metallic Blue, 19" Sonic Carbon Slipstream Wheels, Carbon Fiber Décor - £87,390
QUESTION OF THE WEEK ANSWERS
DAVID FINCH
I never expected to become an EV evangelist.
I’ve been driving an EV since 2015, and friends, family and colleagues are always asking questions. My brother, my Dad and my boss have all made the switch, and many more people I know are considering it. They all have questions and want to chat about it.
JON KNODEL
My biggest surprise of owing a EV is that it came very natural and felt more “normal” then a combustion vehicle. All the worry of getting use to it faded away almost as instantaneously as my EVs torque. One thing that made the transition so much more seamless is having strong car company and dealership support. Just like with you and the Zoe with the great dealership experience. Tesla, Rivian and Polestars business model’s are just as needed as real non-compliance EVs. The car companies and dealerships that are open to transform their business model along with EV’s have the highest chance of survival. So long story short my biggest surprise is how natural it feels.
RICHARD CHAPMAN
but my two biggest surprises after buying my EV that I didn't expect were:
1) The realisation of how much I subconsciously hated going to petrol stations!
2) Becoming super-sensitive to the smell of fossil fuel exhausts, especially diesel.
Chris from Ann arbor Michigan here. The biggest surprise I got when I switched to a full EV instead of a gas powered or plug-in electric what's that I became more sensitized to how dirty and how smelly average cars are.
JERRY LEVY
- I can sleep in my Tesla with climate control
I miss the smell of gasoline (petrol) when refueling my gas car.
- If you drive uphill and then downhill, you use almost no electricity thanks to the regen.
MALCOLM CONNAH
I think it has to be the lack of servicing required, and over the longer term the reliability. My 5 year old 50,000 mile Leaf has only required a number plate bulb. I hope my new model 3 is the same. Selling the golf, now all electric after over 3 years of planning and saving!
DUNCAN
What surprised me, when I first started EV driving, was the corruption that surrounded the charge-points issue.
Early charge-point companies were just taking from their buddy politicians the £1,000 for installation of each point, and then had no interest in the point working - in fact, their business model relied on most of their points not giving electricity.
JOHN FRUHWIRTH
My biggest surprise owning an EV are a couple of persistent feelings it leaves with me.
These are serenity and bliss.
The serenity comes from my lowered stress level while driving my EV
The bliss comes from the excellent ride and tech my EV gives me.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
The MYEV.com Question Of The Week…
What do you prefer, the carrot or the stick? Ie incentives for EVs or penalties for polluters
