GERMANY IMPOSES THE INSTALLATION OF CHARGING STATIONS AT PETROL STATIONS
"several European countries are relying on purchase incentives, in particular the scrapping bonus. Some countries are adding an additional incentive for electric vehicles. This is the case in France and Germany. In France, the incentive is €7,000 (£6,237/$7,900) for the purchase of an electric car whose price is less than €45,000 (£40,100/$50,780)." Writes DriveTribe: "On the other side of the Rhine, the incentive is €6,000 (£5,350/$6,770) for an electric car costing up to €40,000 (£35,600/$45,100). And to convince the Germans to switch to electric cars, the government will impose electric charging stations at all service stations."
TESLA MODEL 3 IS UK’S BEST SELLING CAR...AGAIN
"May 2020 saw UK plugin electric vehicle market share hit 16%, with the cumulative 2020 share now standing at 7.2%, almost triple 2019’s result. The Tesla Model 3 again takes the prize for best selling auto (of any kind) overall, maintaining the result from April." Says Max Holland for Cleantechnica: "UK auto market volume was down 89% year on year, but auto dealers are now reopening for business, promising better results going forwards. The Tesla Model 3 was the outstanding performer, not only taking 35% of the BEV market, but taking the overall top spot of any vehicle model sold in the country in May."

PSA CONSIDERS LAUNCHING ELECTRIC PEUGEOT 3008
"French media report that the new 3008 will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid version as well as a purely electric offshoot." Says electrive: "According to French media, this is to be the new DS 4, which will also be purely electric as the DS 4 E-Tense.
It is still open which drive the E-Tense version will receive. French media speculate about a drive power of 100 kW and a 50 kWh battery – exactly the same data as the PSA Group’s small electric cars. However, with a reported basic price of at least 45,000 euros, customers are likely to expect a little more from a “high-end compact car”. There could be certainty at the end of 2020: According to reports, PSA will then officially present the DS 4."

PORSCHE TAYCAN DC CHARGING TEST: PEAK IS 270 KW
"Fastned, the European fast-charging network, recently had an opportunity to record charging sessions of the Porsche Taycan, which comes in four versions (one with 79.2 kWh battery and three with 93.4 kWh battery). The company shared the results about the charging performance so we can better understand how it works." Says InsideEVs: "The peak DC charging power for Taycan (in the case of bigger battery pack versions) is currently about 270 kW at the 300 kW CCS Combo 2 chargers. If the charger is 175 kW then the peak is about 165 kW.
The smaller battery pack version is good for 225 kW. It's above 250 kW between about 2% SOC and about 25% SOC, while 270 kW is around 15-22% maybe."
AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK RATED BY EPA AT 218 MILES OF RANGE
"When Audi unveiled the 2020 E-Tron Sportback for the US market at the end of April, it said the swoopy electric SUV would do 218 miles between charges. As it turns out, Audi was right on the money as the EPA fuel economy number is out, perfectly matching the 218-mile estimation made by the automaker." According to Quattro Daily: "The new Audi E-Tron Sportback will arrive at dealers across the United States this summer exclusively in the 55 Quattro specification. In Europe, there’s also a lesser 50 Quattro model available"

ELECTRIC DELIVERY VANS ARE HAVING A MOMENT
"Commercial vans are emerging as a key growth area for electrification — and General Motors is developing a vehicle for the sector, according to a Reuters report. GM's interest shows how a powerful legacy automaker wants in on what Morgan Stanley analysts called "America's hottest new vehicle" in a research note this week." Says Axios.
Amazon, in late 2019, vowed to buy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from the startup Rivian and hopes to have 10,000 operating as soon as 2022.
Ford announced in March that it's developing an electric version of its Ford Transit cargo van.
UPS is planning to buy at least 10,000 electric vans from the U.K. startup Arrival.
"FCA's commercial vehicle arm Fiat Professional presents the production version of its all-electric Ducato van, the Fiat E-Ducato, a year after the first prototype was shown in mid-2019. It will be the first electric Ducato in the 39-year history of the model." Says InsideEVs: "WLTP range expected from 200 km (124 miles) to over 330 km (205 miles) with several battery options"
"General Motors is developing an electric van aimed at business users, joining a growing list of carmakers planning EVs for the same segment. GM's plan to develop an electric van has not previously been reported. The No. 1 U.S. automaker did not confirm the van, but has said it plans to introduce at least 20 new all-electric vehicles by 2023, in a variety of body styles including sedans, trucks and crossovers. Suppliers familiar with such plans at GM and Ford told Reuters the Detroit automakers, which count trucks and commercial vehicles among their most profitable businesses, "don't want to leave the door open for Tesla" as they did in consumer passenger cars." Electrive points out: "What is important with the e-Traveller compared to the e-Expert is, of course, the cab. The model is available in two basic versions ‘Shuttle’ and ‘Combispace’, both versions are available in two lengths. The Shuttle version is aimed at professional transport companies such as taxi operators, airport or hotel shuttles. There is also the ‘Business’ version with five to nine seats and the ‘Business VIP’ version with six or seven leather individual seats and comfort features such as three-zone air conditioning." And also: "The new Kangoo Z.E. Business+ starts at a retail price of £19,836 (ex-VAT, inc grant), and is advertised to pack another “£1,070 worth of additional equipment” for a price increase of £600 on top. It is available in both medium and long-wheelbase panel versions, and retains the 33kWh battery and 44kW motor from the standard Renault Kangoo Z.E., for the same 143-mile range, according to WLTP."
