2020 AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK ON SALE NOW
"The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback – the second fully electric model from the brand, arrives to dealers this month. Distinguished by its refined coupe SUV design, the e-tron Sportback offers everyday utility and a distinct road presence through its sportback silhouette. " reports Automotive World: "Two row, five adult seating capacity SUV with ample space for luggage and a 4,000 pound towing capacity when equipped with an availa ble towing package. Full suite of standard driver assistance systems including lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and top view camera system with virtual 360 degree and curb views. Standard-equipped electric quattro® all-wheel drive. The e-tron Sportback offers 355 horsepower, and with Boost Mode engaged – unlocking the full power output of the vehicle – achieves an increased 402 horsepower, reaching 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. the e-tron battery is engineered to utilize 91 percent, or 86.5 kWh, of the 95 kWh total battery capacity. This engineering approach ensures battery longevity, repeatable performance and peak charging power for longer amounts of time during the charge cycle."
TESLA TEASES FIRST LOOK AT ITS EUROPEAN GIGAFACTORY AND IT’S SPECTACULAR
"Elon Musk has posted the first official render for what appears to be the first phase of Gigafactory Berlin. The upcoming facility, which features a sprawling, futuristic mammoth of a building that’s covered with solar panels and multiple loading bays, is absolutely stunning." says Teslarati: "Immediately noticeable from Musk’s recently shared image was Gigafactory Berlin’s design, which is very similar to Gigafactory Shanghai. It should be noted that the first official render of Giga Shanghai only represented the site’s Model 3 facility. With this in mind, it appears that Elon Musk’s recently shared image for Giga Berlin only represents the upcoming Model Y factory."

TESLA TO SET UP “TENT” TO MAKE MORE MODEL Y
"Tesla is building another tent structure at the Fremont plant to produce more Model Y. The end of this month will see a major upgrade including a short shutdown of the factory."says electrive: "Rumours started already at the beginning of June that Tesla wanted to buy another “Giga Press” – now it seems clear where Tesla wants to use the big press for body parts. As can be seen from several registrations on the website of the city of Fremont, Tesla is planning several modifications and extensions at the “General Assembly 4.5”. This name was used for the tent structure where the Model 3 was built from 2018 on. Since this March, the assembly of the Model Y is taking place there."

FJORDS TAKES DELIVERY OF SECOND ALL-ELECTRIC PASSENGER SHIP

"On 6 July, The Fjords celebrated the delivery of Legacy of The Fjords which will join her sister ships, Vision of The Fjords and Future of The Fjords, providing more tourists than ever an unparalleled experience in the spectacular landscapes on the west coast of Norway." says MarineInsight.com: " Both vessels are all-electric, carbon fibre catamarans offering completely emissions-free transport for up to 400 passengers through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed fjord route between Flåm and Gudvangen. It enhances the passenger experience. “Unlike noisy diesel engines which emit exhaust, the all-electric engines found on the Legacy of The Fjords are clean and silent. The NOK 130 million vessels is propelled by two 450kW electric motors, enabling cruising speeds of 16 knots. Together with Brødrene Aa, the company developed a unique charging station called the Power Dock, a 40m long, 5m wide floating glass-fiber charging station in Gudvangen. The station houses a 2.4 MWh battery pack, allowing for a stable, efficient, and cost-effective charging time of about 20 minutes."
BMW GROUP SIGNS LONG-TERM SUPPLY AGREEMENT FOR BATTERY CELLS WITH NORTHVOLT
BMW Group has signed a long-term supply contract worth 2 billion euros for battery cells with Northvolt. The battery cells will be produced from 2024 at Northvolt Ett gigafactory, currently under construction in Skellefteå, northern Sweden. The signing of the cell supply agreement is a major milestone in the BMW Group–Northvolt partnership, which dates back to mid-2018 when the two companies entered into a cooperation to develop battery cells.

BYD’S HAN ELECTRIC SEDAN RIVALS THE TESLA MODEL 3 IN GLOBAL MARKETS
"Chinese automaker BYD Co Ltd has launched the Han all-electric sedan in its home market. Proclaimed to be “China’s fastest EV in production”, the BYD Han comes in with both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric powertrains." writes Rushlane.com: "In its highest trim, the BYD Han EV comes with 11 airbags, six cameras, multiple radar units, air purification systems and more. It can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The Han EV ‘Extended Range’ variant promises 605km on a full charge (NEDC test cycle)."

VOLKSWAGEN ID.3 VS. VOLKSWAGEN GOLF
"The ID.3, in the eyes of many, is basically intended to replace the Golf — over time. The question I and many others have is: how long will it take for that happen? That depends on many factors, but two of the bigger ones are 1) the ID.3 becoming considerably cheaper than the Golf (in terms of cost of ownership initially, and then upfront cost), 2) people becoming aware of that." says Zachary at CleanTechnica: "This first comparison includes an assumption that you drive 20,000 kilometers a year on average and the price of petrol is €2 per liter on average over the course of the 5 years."

TESLA LANDS ANOTHER TAX BREAK TO LOCATE CYBERTRUCK FACTORY IN TEXAS
"Lawmakers in Texas just gave Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk another incentive to locate its next factory there. Commissioners in Travis County, home to Austin and the possible next Tesla factory, approved Tuesday property tax breaks worth at least $14.7 million — and potentially more — over 10 years. The incentives are on top of $46.6 million in property tax abatement that the Del Valle School District Board approved earlier this month." says TechCrunch: "The agreement, which the Austin Statesman first reported, is the latest carrot dangled in front of Tesla in hopes of landing the automaker’s next factory, which is slated to assemble the all-electric Cybertruck and the Model Y for the East Coast market."
TWITTER SAYS 'SOCIAL ENGINEERING ATTACK' LED TO MUSK'S, OTHERS' SCAM TWEETS
And from Engadget: "In its first detailed statements since someone took over a number of high profile accounts Wednesday afternoon, Twitter posted a thread explaining “what we know so far.” While rumors have swirled about what may have caused a compromise that gave hackers access to Twitter accounts for Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Apple, Kanye West and others, the company stated, “We detected what we believe to be a coordinated social engineering attack by people who successfully targeted some of our employees with access to internal systems and tools.”"
"We know they used this access to take control of many highly-visible (including verified) accounts and Tweet on their behalf. We’re looking into what other malicious activity they may have conducted or information they may have accessed and will share more here as we have it."
