A Year in Lockdown, Jess Beal
Season 1, Episode 673, Mar 22, 2021, 03:06 PM
A year on, we're looking back at how the coronavirus outbreak affected the lives of those living with a visual impairment. The challenges, the little blessings and how we and the world around us adapted to the new normal of everyday life.
Connect Radio’s Toby Davey chats with Jess Beal who lives in South London with her husband who is also visually impaired.
Jess has mainly had a positive experience of lockdown and is fortunate that she and her husband live in a London street with good neighbours and community spirit.
Jess spent much of lockdown on furlough and used the time to get into baking like the rest of the UK, found good online community with the Braillist Foundation not only brushing up on her Braille but some really good social Zoom meetings too.
Jess is looking forward to getting back out and about although slightly wary of getting back on public transport in London.
