Royal Holloway, University of London, and the audio description charity VocalEyes have just been awarded £100,000 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of their Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Fellowships to fund a yearlong project titled Inclusive Description for Equality and Access.
The AHRC funded project will take the findings of the VocalEyes Describing Diversity Report further working with several theatres, theatre companies, describers, and visually impaired people to shape the description of diversity within the arts .
Connect Radio’s Toby Davey spoke with Dr Rachel Hutchinson, Project and Community engagement Manager for the Inclusive Description for Equality and Access project to find out how the project will take the findings of the Describing Diversity Report further and what opportunities there will be for visually impaired people to get involved with the project and shape the future of audio description.
