Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the Taijuan Walker signing, José Martínez’s unfortunate knee injury, and the Mets’ resulting interest in third baseman Maikel Franco to provide righty pop off the bench. We also discuss spring training storylines, with the bullpen and defense being areas of concern.

We conclude our Mets segment by expressing our excitement about the impending extension talks between the Mets and Francisco Lindor this week.

In our baseball segment this week, we discussed former Seattle Mariners president Kevin Mather’s chat with the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club, which embodied a lot of the things wrong with the game today—racism, collusion, service time manipulation, and other general rich guy nonsense. These things are not exclusive to Mather or the Mariners, but Mather happened to say them all out loud on video for everyone, including his own players, to hear.

We also remind our listeners that, as of today, Mickey Callaway still has a job.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
