Support Charity's Petition And Save Lives On Rail Platforms

Over the past few years, the number of accidents, and even deaths, caused by people falling off rail platforms has been brought to our attention from across the UK.

Blind and partially sighted people rely on tactile markers to show that they are approaching the edge of the platform but did you know that most of the UK's stations don't have these, simple, life saving markers?

UK sight loss charities, including RNIB, are asking members of the public to sign a petition to have these tactile markers installed across the network and to have them classed as safety features, not just accessibility aids.

RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Samantha Fothergill, from RNIB, to learn more about the petition and how the charity is engaging with politicians, the Department for Transport and Network Rail.
