A Film Immersion Into The Sonic & Visual Experiences Of VI People

Season 1, Episode 648,   Feb 18, 2021, 02:50 PM

In December Manchester International Festival launched a new initiative titled: 'Festival in My House…and Yours', their popular micro-festival series reimagined for the virtual era, which we're all finding ourselves in these days.

With all events streamed for free via their YouTube channel, from Thursday 25th of February we'll get the chance to experience a unique film immersion into the sonic and visual experiences of visually impaired people under lockdown.

The short documentary titled 'Playing Through The Looking Glass', follows a series of workshops ran by visually impaired actor–facilitator from Bury, Elizabeth Wainwright, who has spent lockdown helping visually impaired people connect, learn new skills and beat the homebound blues.

Elizabeth spoke with RNIB Connect Radio about the workshops, exploring Shakespeare's writing for the stage, developing a character through movement and embracing your inner clown.
