Pride #1: Being LGBTQ+, at Home and in London
Episode 72, Feb 01, 2021, 11:07 AM
“So I kinda had built [London] up as this idyllic queer paradise in my head when really, it’s a lot more complicated than that…for instance, I did not think about racism.” - Christina Ivey, from Jamaica.
For this year's Pride Month, we're taking a look at LGBTQ+ experiences at LSE. In the first episode of this series, we look back at an episode from last year that examines students' experiences around the world, and how they compare to London. We talk about LGBTQ+-free zones and their ideological implications, structural homophobia and its effect on local economies, and club culture across the globe.
Produced and presented by Ash Layo Masing. Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
