David Vobora – Re-defining the limits of veterans with life-altering injury – Adaptive Training Foundation – NFL linebacker
Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, lost both legs and nearly both arms while fighting in Afghanistan in 2012. When this week’s guest, strength and conditioning coach David Vobora, invited him to train at his gym he could hardly take the offer seriously, but accept it he did. It was from this improbable meeting that Adaptive Training Foundation was born. Join former Navy SEALs, Marcus Luttrell, and guest co-host Clint Bruce, as they sit down with Vobora for a dynamic and inspiring discussion into how his own #NeverQuit story is directly related to his new mission in life, training “Re-calibrated Carnivores.” Former NFL linebacker Vobora is breaking new ground for veterans with life-altering injuries by creating a pathway to adaptive sports. He never imagined that discovering that his own #NeverQuit story, and injury which ended his football career, which lead to depression and prescription medication abuse, would be road to recovery made possible through his passion for the innovative healing of others. He goes into depth with Marcus and Clint about the power of utilizing one’s pain and scars to activate growth, and that just because a warrior becomes physically disabled, that doesn’t mean they’ve lost the need to compete and fight the combat of life. Additionally, Vobora poses the question to Marcus, “how do you deal with the word hero?” and it’s an answer you won’t want to miss.
