Landholders Unclear On Burn-Off Rights

A Kangaroo Island landowner says two of South Australia's environmental protection laws are making it difficult for locals to do hazard reduction burns ahead of the next bushfire season. 

Peter Davis, beekeeper and member of the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board,  has expressed concern about the Native Vegetation Act and the Wilderness Protection Act preventing park managers and landowners from burning off or clearing vegetation.

However, there are provisions in the Acts that allow landholders to undertake controlled burns.
