BBC Radio Shropshire took to the air on 23rd April 1985. Hear those enthusiastic first moments here.
The station had been some time coming. In the report compiled by Maurice Ennnals in 1975, it appeared on the priority list; and was destined to be a ‘small independent station’ rather than a satellite or main station. It’s lived up to that over the years. Safely away from the Urban glare from BBC eyes, it’s quietly got on with the job in its own proud way and served its audience well.
