If you are new to blindness the idea of using technology might seem daunting; this was certainly the case for Carol Nash, who is 63 from Portobello in Scotland.
After a visit from an RNIB Technology for Life volunteer however, her views changed and she now says her smartphone is the most important thing in her life.
She spoke to Steven Scott to explain her story.
