The recurring violence in greater Jonglei is threatening over 60,000 people in Bor and Pibor with hunger.

The World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organisation in a joint statement released today say the fighting between armed youth is crippling the food security and livelihoods of growing numbers of people.

The two UN agencies in a statement released on Thursday, say the violence has also led to the looting of humanitarian food assistance that was meant to support the most vulnerable people.

According to the latest food security report, the Pibor Administrative Area now faces emergency levels of food insecurity while, three Jonglei counties had people who were classified in a “catastrophe” level of food insecurity.
