Mandela Day; a time to draw inspiration from civil rights icon

Ahead of Mandela Day on Saturday 18th July, the people and leaders of #SouthSudan are being challenged to draw lessons of selflessness and reconciliation from South African icon Nelson Mandela to lead the country to peace.
South Africa’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Gordon Yekelo says South Africa and South Sudan share a lot in common concerning the road to freedom and independence.
Mandela Day is commemorated on the 18th of July every year, the birthday of the former South African president and civil rights icon.
In South Sudan, the day will be commemorated with a series of activities including the unveiling of a painting of the former leader in Juba and the launch of a COVID-19 protective facemask production center spearheaded by Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng.
In this 10” interview with Radio Miraya, Ambassador Yekelo said South Sudan leaders should focus on reconciliation and leaving a legacy for future generations.
