Rachael on social distancing

Season 1, Episode 457,   Jul 06, 2020, 09:34 AM

Lockdown has been a difficult time for blind and partially sighted people with 2 thirds saying that they feel less independent, than they did before restrictions were put in place.
RNIB is running it's #WorldUpsideDown campaign all this week, beginning July 6th 2020, and if you find yourself in London, take a look at the world famous Piccadilly Lights and you'll see something very strange!
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Rachael Pereira, who is registered blind, to find out why social distancing measures are making it almost impossible for her to get out and about independently and safely.  We'll also find out how sighted members of the public can help by simply looking out for the white cane or guide dog and talking to the person to help them move around with confidence.
