Episode 246,   Jul 03, 2020, 05:45 PM

Happy Friday, Beauty Byters!
As you prepare for your summer vacation, or “stay-cation", it’s important to learn the benefits of wearing sunscreen. We all know ultra violet rays are harmful and accelerate aging, in addition to being pre-cancerous. However, most of us don’t even realize what we are putting on our skin. On this Five-Minute Friday, I spill all the benefits of using a mineral based sunscreen over the more common chemical sunscreens. From creating a physical barrier that reflects UV rays to being unable to absorb into the skin, I reveal how a simple switch of sunscreens can help to rejuvenate your skin and even prevent cancer. Even chemical sunscreens deemed ‘safe’ contain some amount of harmful active ingredients that are broken down and absorbed systemically into the skin, causing potential problems and side effects. I explain the science behind mineral based sunscreens, as well as how it helps to prevent pigmentation caused from the sun. So, if you’re suffering from melasma or hyperpigmentation, you’ll definitely want to tune in! Remember, the skin is the largest organ of your body, so I can’t stress enough how important it is to protect it!
