Volunteering in Northern Ireland

Jun 03, 2020, 09:00 AM

National Volunteers Week is being celebrated from the 1st of June to the 7th of June 2020 and celebrates the vital work that volunteers do to help charities provide their vital services.

We are going to hear from some of the volunteers who give up their time for RNIB, what they do, why they do it and why they would recommend supporting the UK sight loss charity.

Today we hear from Kay, who is visually impaired, and volunteers for RNIB Northern Ireland.

She provides admin support by making feedback calls for the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer service (ECLO), to make sure that customers are getting the best possible support at the point of most need.

Kay is joined by Tony, who has a charity governance background and volunteers to support the Belfast Connect group.  He also runs a voluntary group that matches up blind and partially sighted people with sighted guide runners to get them out and keep fit.
