The Fisherman's Daughter

Piece based on Charles Webster Hawthorne painting by Baying Ridges.

"It is very hard to capture in words how this amazing painting moved me.  I printed it and put it up in my studio. Its textures, colours and the faraway gaze in the fisherman's daughter's eyes haunted me and informed every texture and note that was created and played.  Quite simply, this piece is the sound I hear when looking at the painting, and I hope it moves you as it has me."

Part of the Smithsonian Treasures project, a collection of new sound works inspired by items from the Smithsonian Museums’ collections - for more information, see http://www.citiesandmemory.com/smithsonian
