Dawn chorus in the city of flowers

Apr 03, 2020, 01:45 PM

Xalapa lockdown sound recorded by Oscar Marin.

"A fragment of the dawn chorus dominated by 15 bird species, a little traffic noise, roosters, barking dogs, church bells and few people walking with their dogs.

"Bird species on the dawn chorus: Wilson's Warbler, Cordilleran Flycatcher, Great-tailed Grackle, Spot-breasted Wren, Brown Jay,  Melodious Blackbird, Rufous-capped Warbler , Chestnut-capped Brush-finch , Wedge-tailed Sabrewing, Black-headed Saltator,  Social Flycatcher, Eastern Olivaceous Woodcreeper, White-fronted Amazon, and Stripe-crowned Warbler.

"Despite a few cases of COVID-19 reported in the city, to reduce the expansion of the virus all normal activities were canceled since March 20, excepted the essential ones.

"But no obligatory quarantine has been imposed, yet. Listening to the soundscape from your window is a healthy activity to deal with the quarantine, so keep calm and please stay at home."
