If you're a seasoned Podcast Listener - this podcast is going to be different from most you listen to.  It's based around exactly what the name implies - Warehouse Safety Tips.  And since the people in that industry are busy - we know time is money, so each episode will be as short and to the point as possible. And now that all that is out of the way - let's get to the Podcast!

Have you ever been asked to do a job - only to find the work area completely unorganized?  Or had the before mentioned situation, straightened it out, and returned to find it in disarray?  It's extremely frustrating - but even more so dangerous, unorganized, unproductive, and all around unprofessional!  All of which can cost time, money, and potentially lives.

In the 5S Methodology - Step Number Two is Straighten.  When you only have 5 Steps (6 when you include Safety) - that should tell you that it's a very important step that shouldn't be ignored.

In one of our previous Podcasts - we spoke about the reasons Safety Floor Markings and Signs exist in the workplace.  Many times - they exist because the same situation happened enough that it justified creating permanent guidelines for avoiding it going forward.  Most usually something that was detrimental to safety, organizations, and/or productivity is involved.

Before moving on - here's a word from one of our sponsors.

If you've ever been to or worked in a warehouse - you know just how important safety is to both management and staff.  It's almost impossible to go 10 steps without seeing Safety Tape, Angles, Signs, and/or products.

Now back to the Podcast...

In the first part of this Podcast we spoke about unorganized, unsafe, and/or unproductive work areas - and the Safety Floor Markings and Signs that are created because of 'em.

Have you been fortunate to experience the opposite of that situation?

It's very satisfying to see a work area and/or facility where:
  •  the tools have outlines for where they should be returned to
  • there are detailed instructions on how a certain area or task should be organized and/or completed
  • Safety Floor Markings and Signs let you know exactly where to walk, store products, operate equipment, and - stay safe, productive, and organized.
Enforcement of the above mentioned bullet points saves time and money.

Of course these Safety Floor Markings and Signs are only as good as the individuals paying attention to and enforcing them

From outside visitors and contractors - all the way up to the owners of a facility (And everyone in-between) - it's our responsibility to ourselves and everyone around us to pay attention to and enforce all the rules and regulations of a facility.

Assuring there's a place for everything - and everything in its place is one of the best ways to start.
