Kuala Langat Forests (Part 2) - When No One Was Watching

Mar 05, 2020, 01:30 AM

Before the political crisis, an issue of public concern was the attempt to degazette parts of the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve by the government of Selangor. The main concern was the destruction of the environment as well as the cultural heritage of the local Orang Asli communities of the area in favour of large-scale property development. Today, a coalition of NGOs calling itself the Protect the Selangor Forests Coalition handed in a public petition to the Selangor govt. Hafiz Marzukhi and Sharaad Kuttan speak to coalition spokesperson, Faizal Parish, Director of Global Environment Centre.
