High-rise mural: Famed LA muralist Robert Vargas paints Kobe Bryant on downtown building

As the city of LA watches a mural go up on a downtown high rise, muralist Robert Vargas is working to set a Guinness World Record. It should come as no surprise that Kobe Bryant would be immortalized in the masterpiece he calls "Angelus."
 
Vargas is a Laker fan and a major downtown LA ambassador. While this noted portrait artist works around the world it is the "Angelus" mural that will be his crown jewel. As that highrise project is not due to be completed until this summer Vargas took a wall with paintbrush in hand at the renowned LA Art Show on opening night.
