Remote Control Locomotives Operate in this Area

The title and inspiration come from a signpost in the rail yard (courtesy of Google Earth). The sign reads “Remote control locomotives operate in this area; Locomotive cabs may be unoccupied.” The future is already here!

 

The drum beat and snare sound are constructed from the field recording, whilst the other percussion represents the train wheels passing. Rail yards can often be quite deserted and so I chose a lone saxophonist to be playing after the early harmonica.
