Dublin City Council has voted against a commemoration for people who served in the Royal Irish Constabulary.
"Only a subservient government suffering from a post-colonial state of mind and ashamed of our revolutionary history would encourage this disgraceful event" it said.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said earlier that he is disappointed that some people are choosing to boycott the commemoration.
The Royal Irish Constabulary was the police force right across Ireland before partition and independence in the Republic
But is this an important part of a centenary of commemorations or a completely inappropriate celebration of an oppressive force?
