Talks resume today. For the first time since partition Northern Ireland has elected more Irish nationalists than unionist MPs.
Speaking since the result to Thursday's election Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald said:
"We are heading towards a border poll, I can't give you a definitive date, but we need to do the spade work now and prepare ourselves,"
Tony Blair's right hand man and key negotiator of the Good Friday Agreement - Jonathan Powell - now predicts a United Ireland in 10 years.
So - is it time to have a border poll? Was this election about Brexit as John Finucane said - or was it also on Irish unity?
Stephen was joined by News Letter political editor Sam McBride and commentator Phil Kelly.
