Episode 86 - Bills win over Redskins, but is the run defense exposed?
Episode 26, Nov 04, 2019, 01:25 PM
The Bills did it. They defeated another team that they were supposed to beat, with a 24-9 over the Washington Redskins, at home. While the "strength of schedule" conversation will haunt this entire season, no matter the end result, 6-2 is an excellent spot to be in as the Bills have quite the cushion, and an excellent record for a post-season appearance.
Buffalo attacked the Redskins today with a balanced offense, something that should be continually maintained for the remainder of the season, as long as the situations permit it. Devin SIngletary got his most usage today, and wasn't wasted in the slightest. Perhaps the coaching staff is seeing what many of us have seen, fan and analyst like, and that Singletary is a unique player and piece to the puzzle that is Buffalo's offense. The team, still lacking an offensive identity, would be best to feed him the ball as much as possible without over exhaustion.
On the defensive side, although the secondary continues to play at a high level, the run defense is an on-going issue that needs to be addressed. Many hoped for a trade before Tuesday's deadline, but it never came to fruition, and the Bills have given up big chunks of important yardage on the ground. There are many teams on the schedule ahead with prominent rushers, and smart coaching and will certainly bring forth a heavy rush attack in critical moments.
Next week, Buffalo travels to Cleveland, perhaps a still intriguing game, although the Browns have not panned out the way that many would have hoped in 2019.
