Anger among public sector workers over pay squeeze

There's anger among public sector workers here over pay this morning. On the face of it there was good news yesterday, as the dept of Finance announced it was scrapping the one percent pay cap. That meant in theory workers could get bigger pay rises. But the department also said any of those pay rises must come from existing departmental budgets. Those are obviously under a enormous strain, think about the pressures our health service is under and schools. So it's unlikely that there will an increase of more than one percent, which due to inflation means workers could see a real terms cut in their wages. Vinny got the views of the Director of Royal College of Nursing - Pat Cullen, Anne Speed from union Unison, commentator Phil Kelly and businessman Irwin Armstrong.
