Local school faces backlash over a ‘Darkest Day’ display on a noticeboard

An "abhorrent disregard for the wider school community" 

That's how an open letter from former pupils of a County Antrim school describes the appearance of a so-called "Darkest Day" display  on a school noticeboard. 

A blacked out noticeboard with the hashtag #DarkestDay iappeared on the Instagram account of the Christian Union at Dalriada School.

This followed the decriminalisation of abortion and legalisation of same sex marriage in Northern Ireland earlier this week. 

But is this anything more than pupils exercising their right to a political opinion or is it "creating an atmosphere of shame"
