Takis Takes Practice

Takis exhibition reimagined by Paul Collins.
"Two of the three words in the map designation, ///lined.rise.exit, were especially useful in my compositional process. I continually held a mental image of those lines of force in the magnetic fields that power and generate so much of Takis' work. The notion of magnetism also came into play in my recording process, where I chopped and randomly spliced together short segments of the numerous takes of the synthesizer line, much as magnetic tape would be cut and spliced in an aleatory way, back in the day. The notion of "Exit," is realized here in the final note, as a way of bring my piece "home," to the tonic (D) in which this piece was composed."
