It's a result that has been seen far too often in the 21st Century. The New England Patriots, standing tall in the home of the Buffalo Bills. No matter how many name changes the stadium has gone through over the last 19 years, it hasn't helped the fortunes.
This wasn't the same kind of loss however, if that makes matters any better. Tom Brady didn't have a "career game" against the Bills' defense. In fact, it was his worst offensive showing of 2019, which speaks volumes to the quality of the this defense.
Frequent stops from the defense, led to Buffalo dominating statistically in passing, rushing, total offense, and time of possession. The defense did their job, and unfortunately, the offense could not.
Josh Allen, although narrowly beating Brady in passing yards, did not look like a franchise quarterback. It was a step back in his progress. 3 interceptions at crucial occasions marred his day, along with a vicious hit that may have sent him into the concussion protocol for some time. To Matt Barkley's credit, the offense actually moved along quite well when he took over the offense.
It was a reality check for a Bills team that faced it's first true quality team, a winnable game, that slipped through their fingers. In the long run, perhaps it will be the best thing to happen to this young team, as they look to rebound against the Tennessee Titans before their bye week.
